CHARACTER NAME: Alduin (
).
SERIES: THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM
CANON POINT: QUEST: Dragon Slayer.
AGE: UNKNOWN.
APPEARANCE: NATURAL FORM: (dragon IMAGE) | UNNATURAL FORM: (human IMAGE) ; PB, Colin O'Donoghue.
PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: --
PERSONALITY:
ABILITIES: Within the state of his dragon form, Alduin is called the World Eater for a reason. The highest levelled dragon within the game itself, he is capable of both fire and frost attacks as well as dragon shouts, otherwise known as Thu'um that are viewed as an arcane form of magic. Of the three primary voices that he utilizes one known as unrelenting force (FUS RO DAH) that is utilised as a power to project voice and throw those on the other side of things off balance, or in many cases off into the void. The other two are called frost breath (FO KRAH DIIN) and fire breath (YOL TOOR SHUL) which are both self explainable. The fire shout sends flames spiralling forward at intense speeds catching those caught in its way and landscape on fire, while the frost places intense frost damage on the unfortunate souls beneath its power for an amount of time. The power of frost and fire can be utilised when grounded and in flight.
Other shouts, powers of voice, that are available to Alduin and used by him exclusively within the game are resurrect dead dragon (SLEN TIID VO) which maintains the ability to resurrect long dead dragons from their sites; meteor storm that is used to summon a storm that rains meteors down from the heavens and summon fog (VEN MUL RIIK) which is another natural effect that brings forth a dense fog, doubling as a soul snare.
Due to the concept and setting of the game, as via the request of the application, it's important to break Aludin down a little to take away some of his strengths and give him more weaknesses outside of his obvious personality faults. One of the obvious alterations to be made is the size of him within his draconic form. Normally quite beyond the word large, Alduin's size will be significantly decreased in size to around the size of the clydesdale horse. An adult male clydesdale measures on average, from ground to the top of their shoulders, to be between 5'7" (1.7m) to 6'3" (1.9m) in which his wingspan will be comparable. On the more supernatural side of the spectrum, the effects of his shouts and ability to call absolutely terrible destruction upon the world he is in will of course be halved. To assure that he is not overpowered in anyway, it's important to likely break down the shout VEN MUL RIIK to simply summoning fog and push aside the remainder of his magical voice wielding to half of the damage they would normally inflict.
What is also important in the spectrum of the game is ability to exist within such a sphere and not everything will be able to be taken care of or participated in within his draconic form which is why the ability to shape shift into a human will be important to his existence. It will allow him to be a much better target, and on top of that take away difficulty in damage due to the whole scales versus skin debate. This can be held together with reasoning with the magic that exists in the world of Skyrim that can allow such changes to occur; items that involve physical transformation such as the WABBAJACK that imply that the ability to utilise magic to transform one item into another. To further contain Alduin's talents, the transformation between the two forms will be naturally exhausting, to assure that such altercations cannot be made at the turn of the coin. That is not say that in his human form Alduin would not be someone to keep a close eye upon, considering that once he finds his feet, literally, he maintains threat. Even in the form of a mortal, Alduin will be able to utilise these shouts as the dragonborn (dovahkiin) can do so in mortal form.
Beyond that, as already covered, Alduin can speak two languages that of the dragons, the draconic word, and that of the mortals. Within his draconic form he possesses the power of flight, as well as natural deadly weapons such as his claws and teeth that prove horrifying results if one nears too closely. As a NOTE; if there is anything that needs further altercation or reduction please do not hesitate to ask.

PERSONALITY:
Brimming with arrogance, Alduin is hardly one to deny the obvious persona that is attached to his namesake and one could hardly expect less from Skyrim's Nordic God of Destruction. Dragons by their distinct nature are considered to be lords of their realm and as such have the matching personality to accompany it. Beyond just name and appearance, Alduin's natural physical presence is something to be feared. Intimidating in action and voice, he strikes fear into the common rabble that coexist within his world. While all the dragons of Skyrim are obviously not creatures to be meddled with, Alduin is viewed as something beyond the norm of his species and it is his pride in this fact that sets him apart. In retrospect, his egoism and self-respect is not something to be tampered with and it is he, himself, who he views as above all others.
Intensely self-aware of the strength and power that he possesses, Alduin's personality surpasses a dragons natural domineering instinct and he is immensely perceptive in his status as an immortal. Because of this, he does not hesitate to look down upon all of humanity as the inferior species and views them as prime targets in his conquest of the world. Alduin feels that it is his written destiny and birthright to dominate the world by the use of the dragons that serve under him. Within the early time line of the story itself, it is revealed that Alduin was one of the first dragons that ruled over men and mer. Certain of their superiority, the dragons kept a near tyrannical hold on all of their realm. Yet, the consequences of Alduin's unrestrained pride brought forth the rebellion of mankind itself. Once men learned how to use the voice of the dragon language, Alduin's extreme narcissism and his recklessness led to his defeat at the Throat of the World. His overconfidence in his abilities caused him to underestimate the will of men and with the Elder Scroll, Alduin was tossed forth in time only to return during Fourth Era.
Well known for his ferocity and feared for his power, Alduin's return to the world of Skyrim brought forth the Nordic peoples opinion and worship of him as a representation of the Nine Divines, figures symbolizing creation and love. As their counterpart, Aludin takes his depiction as the ravaging firestorm that destroyed the last world to begin the current quite literally, promising to bring forth the apocalypse once more. In his return, Alduin's ambition is unmatchable, proving that he is intensely stubborn in his efforts to hold true to his word and is not to be deterred easily by his temporary banishment. Upon his arrival to Skyrim, he begins to revive the dragons with his power with full intent on continuing his plan for the domination of the world. The adamant refusal to admit defeat or bend to the will of others only perpetuates his stubbornness and that once he becomes focused one a task he is intent on completing it.
It is in his very nature to posses, take over and destroy. Existing to ravage, to devour, the current world so the next one may come into existence, Alduin is not a figure to deny his fate. It is his destiny that drives him to fully embrace the characteristics and inherent tendency to be violent, fierce and oppressive and even more intensely so simply due to the expectations of his existence. Bound to what is foretold, Alduin is eager to assure that it comes to fruition. By these qualities it can be assumed that Alduin is laden with charisma, being able to persuade through action and word that his stance on his destiny is right and just. To persuade the majority of dragon kind that their stance is above that of mankind is no easy task and within the game Alduin is not short of others that rally to his cause. A manipulator, he is successful in convincing the others of their own fate and place beneath him. As an alternative trait to his intense persona, he is at least not lacking in a sense of humour. That is if one views humour as the open mockery at the expense of others. It is the acts of mankind that he finds humorous and empty, and has never been one to halt in being extremely condescending to those that come to fight against him. He is boastful and patronising, never one to hesitate taunting others in their failures as he continues to perpetuate his intense arrogance in his strength.
Placed in the form of an immortal god, Alduin holds the world in a different light compared to the way mortals do. Living the primary part of his existence naive to the fear of loss of himself or others, it was the Dragonborn alongside the ancient heroes of Sovngarde that knocked his perspective off tilt when they banished him from the world forever. Due to their efforts, Alduin was forced to temporarily embrace the sensation of being mortal and it was because of this his foes were able to defeat him through their own words of power and turn it against him. In this state he was able to and was forced to know of fear and exposure to the idea of death. Despite this knowledge, Alduin is adamant in his distaste to be subjected to the perception of morality. The idea of it turns his ideals of himself on their back and leaves him vulnerable.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
Death was never something he considered without a bark of laughter to follow the idea, because when one was labeled as a god, an immortal in ever sense of the word, the idea of mortality was not a concept that hit too close to home. His destiny hand long been laid out for him and nothing within the transcripts of time stated that a figure regarded in such fear and maintaining such power would fall prey to the sword. Yet when the final strike came down upon him and that last whisper of breath left his lungs, Alduin had never felt as venerable as he did in that moment when he realised that death was upon him. Suddenly it had become blindingly clear that even though he believed he would long outlast the struggles of mankind, the will of men had become strong enough to defeat his physical form, to knock him back down to earth and out of the skies. For Alduin though, whose stubbornness persisted years, even as he felt his body hit the ground and the blood fall from his wounds he could not consider defeat, he could not accept placing the final touches to an end of life that was supposed to span throughout all time.
He swore to himself when he knew it would all end, that it wouldn't. Alduin promised quietly that he would be brought back to life and there would be no mercy when he returned, there would be no gentle or kind nature, something he never possessed but would now never consider once in his life. He was a god, he was the Nordic God of Destruction, he was beyond those who walked on two legs and those who spoke the horrid guttural language of mortal-kind. Alduin was certain this could not be over because who could kill a god.
When he woke, the gasp that took to his lungs was loud, harsh and brought in as if he feared he would never breath again. He shook and trembled as he found himself suddenly within the grip of the life once more but what was different, what was distinctly off was not that he had awoken within a tomb but the fact that he he felt significantly different, physically. From what his memory allowed, he knew that his body felt significantly smaller, that his senses were thrown off and he was no longer the rather massive, strong creature he was known as.
A god, dead or alive, but Aludin was distinctly human.
